Mangal Dosha is associated with the planet Mars which is known as Mangal or Kuja in the ancient Sanskrit language as well as North Indian astrology system while is called as Chevvai/Sevvai in South Indian system.

Mars is the most aggressive planet as it represents as the commander-in-chief among the planets. It is a aggressive planet with highest determination to work hard and focus to achieve goals. However, this aggression can be productive by channeling while a negative Mangal provides ill effects of aggression resulting commonly to family and marriage issues. Example – famous Bollywood actress Aishwarya rai was supposed to be a Manglik, Kumbh-vivah solution was advised to her before marrying her current husband and actor Abhishek Bachchan, after which she got rid of it and didn’t face the expected issues.  

 Mangal DoshaThose afflicted with Mangal dosha, also known by the name of Bhom Dosha, Kuja Dosha, Angarakha Dosha, or  Chevvai/Sevvai Dosham; are called – Manglik. It occurs If the planet Mars exists in the 1st, 2nd (as per South Indian system only), 4th, 7th, 8th and 12th house of a person’s horoscope chart, then it is Mangal Dosha. 

Manglik dosha has greater significance at the time of marriage as it is important parameter which needs to be analysed carefully while matching horoscope, and has been follow traditionally in India. The compatibility between the partners can be ensured in order to have happy married life, as two Mangliks make a good pair but a Manglik marrying to non-Manglik would create issues.

A Manglik dosha present in natal chart is considered cancelled in below circumstances :

  • The malefic effects of Mars will be cancelled if planet Mars in the Natal Chart or Kundali is being aspected by the benefic planets like Jupiter or Venus.
  • The marriage between two Manglik individuals cancels the negative effects for both.
  • If a Manglik person is born on Tuesday the effects are nullified to large extent.
  • If the 1st house has Mars in its own Rashi (Aries/Mesh or Scorpio/Vrishchik) then also this dosha is nullified.
  • If Mars is in Leo in 8th House
  • If Mars is in Sagittarius in 12th House.
  • If Mars is exalted or in its own sign in Navmansa chart.
  • Also if the Mars is debilitated, combusted or exalted then the ill effects are large removed.
  • Many believe a Manglik dosha gets ineffective after 28 years.

Characteristics of Mangal Dosha :

  • Being Manglik or Mangal Dosha is irrespective of the gender.
  • People suffering from this Dosha are aggressive and hot-tempered. They get excited quickly about everything and have less patience.
  • This Dosha delays the marriage of an individual.
  • The person with dosha live under a high competitive spirit always and doesn’t give up easily. It takes even partner as a competitor.
  • The planet of Mars represents high energy, ego, higher position and self-esteem. Therefore one with the Mangal Dosha has a volatile temper. Mangliks face a lot of problems in bending and adjusting with their partners.
  • The energy of Manglik individuals can be compared to that of fire. Therefore this energy needs to be used in the right direction and in doing something constructive, or otherwise same energy would be harmful to self and others in terms of growth, peace etc.
  • It affects the married life, mental state, and also leads to financial losses.
  • People with bad Mangal stays under constant stress and can never feel calm or ease in life

Effects of Mangal dosha

  1. Mars in the 1st house: Such a person has too much of energy and will be – impatient, get into unnecessary arguments, ill-tempered and aggressive by nature
  2. If Mars is situated in the 2nd house: It will affect the family life of the person creating tension and conflicts. Financial troubles may also hurt.
  3. Mars in the 4th house: It would mainly bring – conflict with Mother, disturbance in school education and emotional disturbances that would deprive of mental peace.  
  4. When Mars is situated in the 7th house:  Since the 7th house represents the house of spouse so it normally affects the married life leading to unnecessary conflicts resulting in not being able to maintain cordial relationship with family members. Mangal Dosha in gives the Person short-tempered nature and might also be involved in physical assault and violence which could bring separation or even divorce.
  5. When Mars is in the 8th house: This provides the person with Violent nature. Such a person will be lazy and will not be able to maintain a rapport with his or her elders and thus will lose paternal property.
  6. When Mars is situated in the 12th house: Manglik individuals will have enemies and can also suffer from mental problems and financial losses.
